People's Daily, November 22, Hong Kong (Reporter Chen Ran) The 12th Asian Conference on Logistics, Shipping and Air Transport, co sponsored by the Hong Kong SAR Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, opened at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center on November 22. More than 90 representatives and officials of international institutions participated in the discussion on how global enterprises can cope with current challenges and opportunities through international and regional cooperation in the face of the new normal of supply chain, and explore the future direction of sustainable development.

The theme of this session is "Achieving a Sustainable Supply Chain: Contact · Collaboration · Innovation". There are nearly 30 special forums, which will be held online and offline for two days. It is expected to attract more than 14000 industry participants from more than 50 countries and regions.
Chen Maobo, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong SAR Government, attended the meeting and delivered a speech, saying that the National "Fourteenth Five Year Plan" and the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Development Plan jointly confirmed Hong Kong's role as an international shipping center and the preferred international air transport hub in the future. In order to achieve these goals, Hong Kong will continue to integrate into the overall economic development of the country and fully grasp the unlimited opportunities brought to Hong Kong by the country.
Lin Jianyue, Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade and Development Council, said in his welcoming speech that the logistics, maritime and air transport industries are the main driving force and pillar of world connectivity, especially in today's globalizing world. These industries can most prosper in a stable environment, and the resilience and sustainability of the global supply chain ensure their continued growth. The interruption and delay caused by the epidemic in the past three years highlight the urgency of managing the supply chain, so that the supply chain can better cope with future challenges.
Zhang Xiangchen, Deputy Director General of the World Trade Organization, delivered a keynote speech in the form of video, saying that at present, some regions in the world lack infrastructure facilities, which poses challenges to the operation of local enterprises, such as the rise in transport costs, affecting the smooth and stable supply chain. He called on all member countries to strengthen cooperation to solve the problems facing the supply chain.
In the subsequent theme forum, many leaders of international large-scale logistics enterprises discussed how to build a future air cargo hub, Shanghai Hong Kong collaborative innovation and development, Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area supply chain opportunities, strengthening the Asian supply chain and other issues.
